Saturday morning dawned a perfect day. There was no wind and the sun was throwing cheeky sunbeams through the clouds onto a calm ocean. One could not help but get excited at the prospect of getting out there! Which bummed me out quite a bit I must say. Yes, it bummed me out. Why? Well, because I'm shop duty for the next 3 weekends. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I love The Paddling Centre, I think its awesome, but when such a radical surfski morning comes around (and I'm usually there to savour it)...well, it's a tough prospect 8 hours indoors.

Still, my heart was glad at the thought of all you wonderful people able to enjoy it on my behalf. Also, I was secure in the fact that Jasper and new guy Jono Webb would help you eke out every single bit of great paddling that you could. Not only that, they would be able to properly instruct you in the skill of surfski ocean paddling.

The Ocean Advanced group did a great and hard "mini-circuit" from Fish Hoek to Glencairn to Roman Rock lighthouse and back. En route they did a cheeky 10 by 3min set of intervals just to keep the heartrate up.

The Ocean Expert Group cruised around to Kalk Bay harbour. There was some action of the point at Kalk Bay as some of the group got handled by a freaky little wave. Careful of that spot, it's always got it's eye out for unsuspecting victims.

As of time of writing I have no idea how the two Ocean Paddler or the Ocean ABC sessions were, but judging by the fact that there is still no wind, I'm pretty sure it was Kiff Dot Com!

Now, it's up to you, if you're not in the circle of Surfskischool trust, to get yourself down to Fish Hoek beach and onto one of our Surfskis. Honestly, it such a cool thing to be doing on the ocean....

See you soon
